Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver specialty

A Nitrox Diver uses breathing gas with higher oxygen levels than standard air. This specialty is useful for many divers. You will mostly use EAN32 or EAN36 mixes during your dives. These gases allow you to stay underwater longer because they lower nitrogen absorption. I used this in Komodo in 2019 to maximize my time on deep reefs.

Always check your oxygen percentage before you descend. Many divers forget to update their dive computer settings. This mistake leads to dangerous nitrogen buildup. You must verify the mix manually if the computer fails. It is a vital safety step. Most shops like Ban Island in Koh Tao charge $120 USD for this course.
