Editorial standards

Sourcing

  • Dive site descriptions — first-hand experience by the editor or a named contributor, supplemented by current dive guides (Lonely Planet, Cruising Guides, agency publications) and operator-published depth/feature data. Where we have not dived a site, we say so explicitly.
  • Safety & medicine — referenced to Divers Alert Network (DAN), RSTC Medical Statement, PADI/SSI/CMAS standards, and peer-reviewed dive medicine literature (e.g. Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine journal). We don't substitute for personal medical advice.
  • Marine life — combined first-hand sightings, peer-reviewed sighting databases (Atlas of Living Australia, OBIS), IUCN Red List status, and reputable field guides.
  • Course pricing and operator practices — current as of the article's Updated date. Pricing changes frequently; consider any figure a benchmark not a quote.

Conflicts of interest

  • We accept no payment, commission, or promotional consideration from dive schools, liveaboards, training agencies, or equipment manufacturers.
  • We have no affiliate links and no sponsored content.
  • If the editor has a personal relationship with an operator mentioned in an article, that relationship is disclosed in the article.

Update cadence

  • Destination guides — reviewed annually, updated when season patterns or significant site changes (closures, regulation changes) occur.
  • Tool calculators — formula sources are pinned. PADI RDP, DAN flying-after-diving rules, RSTC medical form are reviewed when the source updates.
  • Safety content — reviewed when DAN or RSTC publishes new guidance.
  • Each article shows the Updated date in its byline.

Corrections policy
