Night Diver specialty

A Night Diver is a diver trained to manage visibility and safety during darkness. This specialty focuses on using torches and signals effectively. You will practice these skills in low-light environments where traditional navigation fails. Most agencies teach this during a single afternoon or evening session. It affects how you spot nocturnal creatures like octopuses or moray eels. I used this training in Anilao back in 2018 to find sleeping nudibranchs. A common mistake is losing your buddy because your light beam is too narrow. Always keep your torch pointed toward your partner’s tank so they stay visible. Check your primary light battery life before you enter the water. A dead light at 18 m depth is a serious problem.
