Dive mask (single, twin, frameless)

A dive mask is a piece of equipment that covers your eyes and nose. It creates an air space so you can see clearly underwater. You use this gear on every dive from shallow reefs to deep wrecks. Most recreational divers choose single-lens models for better peripheral vision. Frameless masks are popular because they take up less space in a travel bag. I prefer frameless options since they fit tighter against the face. Some divers use twin-lens masks if they have wider facial structures. A common mistake is buying a mask that leaks during descent. You must test the seal by pressing it to your face without using your nose. If it stays stuck, the fit is good. Always check the silicone skirt for cracks before you fly to Koh Tao.
