Integrated weights (in BCD pockets)

Also: weight pockets

Integrated weights live inside pockets on your BCD. These pockets hold lead blocks directly against your body. This design replaces the traditional heavy nylon weight belt. Most modern BCDs from brands like Scubapro or Apeks use this system. It works well because it keeps the weight close to your center of gravity. You will likely carry 4 kg to 8 kg of lead in these pockets.

Check your trim often. I noticed in Cebu that beginners often feel too heavy in the legs when using integrated systems. If you struggle with buoyancy, try moving one 1 kg block higher up the pocket. Do not overfill them. Too much weight makes it hard to ascend if your BCD fails. Always double-check that the weight pockets are fully zipped before you enter the water.
