Drift Diver specialty

A Drift Diver specialty teaches you how to move with ocean currents instead of fighting them. You learn to stay controlled while the water pushes you along a specific path. This training is essential for sites like Komodo or Tubbataha where currents often reach 2.5 knots. Many divers struggle because they try to swim against the flow, which wastes air very quickly. You should practice your buoyancy at 15 m depths before attempting high-current channels. Always keep an eye on your buddy during a drift. If you lose sight of them, signal immediately so the boat can spot you. It is easier to stay together when you move in the same direction.
